Indiana FAA Medical Exams

To fly an aircraft, pilots are required to hold both a valid pilot’s license and a current medical certificate. This certification must come from a physical exam conducted by a Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)-certified Aviation Medical Examiner (AME). At FreedomDoc Health, we proudly serve as your premier destination for aviation medical services—offering all classes of FAA flight physicals in a professional, efficient, and pilot-friendly environment.

He performs essential flight physicals for pilots, helping ensure they are healthy and fit to fly, and showing his deep commitment to the safety of everyone in the skies.

There Are 4 Types of FAA Flight Physicals For Pilots

  • Commercial airline transport pilots need first-class medical certificates from Senior AMEs with at least two to three years of experience. Pilots under the age of 40 must receive a flight physical every year and complete a one-time color vision test, along with a baseline EKG at age 30. Once a pilot turns 40, they are required to have a flight physical every six months, a one-time color vision, and complete an EKG annually.

  • Second-class medical certificates are required for commercial pilots, including corporate pilots, crop dusters, air ambulance pilots, charter pilots, and first officers or navigators on commercial airline flights. These pilots must complete a flight physical every year and complete a color vision test.

  • Third-class medical certificates are required for recreational and private pilots. Pilots under age 40 must complete a flight physical every five years and a one-time color vision test. Pilots 40 and older must have a flight physical every two years and a one-time color vision test.

  • This is an alternative pathway that allows eligible pilots to fly without holding an FAA medical certificate, provided they meet specific requirements. These pilots must complete a flight physical every two years and a one-time color vision test. Unlike traditional FAA medical exams, BasicMed does not require MedXPress application.

  • Make sure you have completed your FAA MedXpress application before your appointment. You will need to provide your confirmation number before we can start your FAA medical exam.

Note: MedXPress is not required for BasicMed exams.
